Besides the children’s project TWIGA supports a number of subprojects in and around Mto wa Mbu. The aim is sometimes to help out in emergency situations or supply basic needs. The very poor families of Twiga-children receive food aid. In return, these families help out at the childrens’ centre by assisting the house mothers for example. Moreover, all children and staff of Twiga/Sarakasi get the necessary medical care.
Most of these projects, however, are aimed at improving the standard of living:
